How Zembula Works in Email

 In Uncategorized

Zembula Experiences utilize the latest HTML5 and JavaScript capabilities to enable direct content interaction within the web browser. Users can interact with this content within a webpage or mobile app.

You can link to Zembula Experiences from an email via an animated preview image (GIF) or a static image. The GIF or image links out to a landing page where the Experience resides. The interaction does NOT happen within the email itself.

We chose this best practice to ensure a consistent audience journey as JavaScript use within email is not recommended. Why?

  1. Inconsistent Email Client Support

JavaScript is not widely supported across email clients. This means you’re likely to send an email that won’t be visible to your audience, or worse, blocked by that recipient’s email servers. For example, JavaScript in email is not supported by Gmail (1.2 Billion users, or 20% of your audience).

    2. Your Email Deliverability is Compromised (and ours)

We all work very hard to deliver emails that are received and opened. The use of JavaScript within emails could trigger SPAM blockers (e.g., those 1.2 Billion Gmail users), or cause your email to not be delivered by that recipient’s email service provider. As you know, recovering from this is very difficult. Here’s an article by MailChimp on why you shouldn’t use JavaScript in email.

Can I embed my experience in my email template?

Yes, but your user will not be able to interact directly with your content. See above for full explanation.

Where will my audience interact with my content?

Your audience will be directed to a Zembula hosted landing page or your web page.

Can I customize the Experience code to enable interaction within my email?

No, any manipulation of the Zembula Experience code will render it non-functional and is considered a violation of the Terms of Use.
