Design Best Practices

Principles of good design are paramount when creating your Zembula experience. Not only will good design ensure that your audience is visually delighted, it will also increase your click-through rate and conversions.

Below we’ve outlined our best practices that lead to the best interactive experiences.

DON’T USE TOO MUCH TEXT…

If your experience is all text, not only is it distracting, but if it’s on the cover, you give everything away before the reveal. If the text is on the reveal, it can be difficult to decipher and confuse your audience so much that they don’t click through.

…BUT USE ENOUGH TO EXPLAIN THE EXPERIENCE

A good experience has just enough text to intrigue your customer’s curiosity and make them want to interact.

DON'T

DO!

Don’t spoil the reveal

Whatever you do, don’t spoil the reveal on the cover! Your click through and conversion will suffer.

DON'T

Make sure images are the appropriate size (no stretching!)

Use clean, high-quality images of the appropriate size (900×900 or larger). No one likes stretched or pixelated images!

DON'T

DO!

Keep it simple

Cluttered experiences are a turn-off. If in doubt, streamline.

DO!

Fit your experience to the interaction type

Make sure that if you’re using a Zip-it, for example, your design integrates the experience type and isn’t awkward.

DON'T

DO!

Make sure the experience hint stands out

On lighter colored backgrounds, use darker hints. On dark backgrounds, you can’t go wrong with white. Ensure the hint stands out so your audience knows how they’re supposed to interact.

DON'T

DO!

Use bolder or contrasting colors for Slide-in and embed

Capture attention! We’ve found that using a bolder color for our Slide-Ins and embedded experiences results in more clicks and in turn, more conversions.

DON'T

DO!

Avoid obnoxious branding

If you must include your logo, keep it tasteful.

DON'T

DO!

Make sure text isn’t too small or too large

Your text size is important! Make sure it’s appropriate to the rest of your design.

DON'T

DO!

Be sure to keep these best practices in mind the next time you design an experience. Your clicks and conversions will go up, we promise!
